Her Royal Highness visits the Royal Voluntary Service Lunch Club in Rickmansworth
Published
Today, The Duchess of Cornwall visited the Royal Voluntary Service lunch club in Rickmansworth to meet some of the club’s regular diners and dedicated volunteers who have worked hard to reinstate the club despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
The lunch club is a welcoming place for older people to enjoy a meal, relax and socialise.
The Duchess, who is President of the Royal Voluntary Service, was invited to visit the lunch club by 86-year-old Doris Winfield who Her Royal Highness spoke to on the phone during lockdown. They have been exchanging letters ever since and today were able to meet for the first time in person. During the visit, The Duchess of Cornwall helped serve lunch and a trifle dessert to the diners.
Thanking the volunteers, The Duchess said: “You do the most wonderful job. I’m very, very proud to be part of the RVS.”
The Royal Voluntary Service is a national charity built on local volunteering, giving support to people who need it in NHS hospitals and communities.
