The Princess Royal visits Jodrell Bank Observatory and Reasehealth Equestrian College.

The Princess Royal visited Jodrell Bank Observatory to celebrate the occasion of Jodrell Bank Observatory becoming the first research Observatory to receive UNESCO status.

During the visit, The Princess Royal met staff at the observatory and operated the Lovell Telescope from the control panel.

The Princess Royal also planted a sapling apple tree at the site. The pip planted originates from the apple tree within Sir Isaac Newton’s garden said to have inspired the Theory of Gravity and was taken on board the International Space Station as part of Astronaut Tim Peake’s mission in 2016.

While in Cheshire, Her Royal Highness opened Riding for the Disabled's (RDA) new facilities at Reaseheath Equestrian College.

During the visit, The Princess Royal toured the new facilities and met some of its young riders.

The Princess Royal is President of RDA - a charity providing over 17,000 disabled children and adults with fun activities like riding and carriage driving, all supported by a team of volunteers and qualified coaches.
