In Wellingborough, The Princess Royal has met Off the Streets volunteers and supporters and heard from those affected by knife crime. Read on for more.

The Princess Royal visits Off The Streets knife crime community group

Off the Streets was formed in August 2021 following the tragic death of a local 16-year-old, due to knife crime. The group is on a mission to eradicate knife crime in the local community.

To date, Off the Streets NN have placed 203 Bleed Kits across Northamptonshire, with four of these already being used to save lives in emergency situations.

The organisation has trained 608 community members in critical bleed control. The course has taught people with no previous medical background to stop a critical bleed in the case of emergency, both using the kits they place and improvising if no kit is available.

During the visit, Her Royal Highness presented certificates to individuals who have supported Off the Streets NN and completed the critical bleed control training courses.

Off the Streets has also placed 13 Amnesty Bins across the county, allowing over 3000 knives to be handed in and discarded safely.
