The Military Wives Choirs perform for The King and Queen at Buckingham Palace
Published

Approximately 30 members of the Military Wives Choirs, and conductor Hilary Davan Wetton, came to Buckingham Palace to perform two songs for The King and Queen.
The Choir, accompanied by musicians from The Band of the Household Cavalry, sung their latest single ‘November Sunday’. They also performed ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’ alongside the Royal Household Choir.
After the performances, The King and Queen met the singers and musicians and His Majesty received a framed single of ‘November Sunday’ with a section of the music and lyrics.

‘November Sunday’ was released in November to honour The King’s birthday, reflecting the close links between the Armed Forces and the Royal Family. 100 singers drawn from members of the Military Wives Choirs network in the UK and overseas feature on the single, accompanied by The Band of the Household Cavalry.
Choir members from across the United Kingdom were joined by representatives from five overseas Military Wives Choirs: Cyprus, Belgium, the Netherlands, the Falkland Islands, and Gibraltar for the recording of this single.
The B side, an arrangement of the song for symphonic wind band, was performed at Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace on 15th November 2024 by The Band of the Grenadier Guards.
The Military Wives Choirs is a charity, established in 2012 following the initial success of the first choirs in Catterick, Chivenor and Plymouth and the TV series ‘The Choirs: Military Wives’ with Gareth Malone. Since then, the choirs have flourished into a community of nearly 1800 women in 70 choirs across the UK and overseas, with choirs as far afield as the Falkland Islands and Canada, and in the UK from Southern Cornwall to Northern Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The Military Wives Choirs performed at Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee and last year, they welcomed The Duchess of Edinburgh to Sandhurst to attend a rehearsal and meet choir members.
