The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall launch the Poppy Appeal 2021

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall have met with 10 collectors, representing 10 decades of the Poppy Appeal, to launch Royal British Legion’s 2021 Poppy Appeal.
During the short reception at Clarence House, Their Royal Highnesses met Jill Gladwell, 95, who is celebrating 80 years of collecting for the Poppy Appeal this year. She began collecting aged 14 during World War Two, after being inspired by her mother who collected in the 1920s. Today, five generations of Jill’s family are involved in collecting for the Poppy Appeal, and her great-great-niece, Charlotte, who is ten years old, has picked up the baton to continue the family legacy.
The Prince and The Duchess also met ten-year-old Maisie Mead, who is representing the last decade of the charity’s history and has been involved in the Poppy Appeal since the age of four. Maisie first got involved in the Appeal after her dad was medically discharged with a life-changing back injury while serving with the Army in the Royal Logistics Corps.
