Holocaust Memorial Day 2021

As Patron of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, The Prince of Wales has opened the National Holocaust Memorial Day Ceremony, which this year is taking place virtually.
His Royal Highness said:
This is not a task for one time only; nor is it a task for one generation, or one person. It is for all people, all generations, and all time. This is our time when we can, each in our own way, be the light that ensures the darkness can never return.
Holocaust Memorial Day happens each year on 27th January to mark the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp. On this day, we remember the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, alongside the millions of other people killed in other genocides.
To end the Ceremony, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall joined the nation to #LightTheDarkness by lighting a candle in the window.
