Buckingham Palace

The Earl of Airlie was received by The King this morning and delivered up the Insignia of the Order of the Thistle worn by his father, the late Earl of Airlie.

Dame Hannah Rothschild was received by The King and handed back to His Majesty the Insignia of the Order of Merit belonging to her father, the late Lord Rothschild.

The Lord Janvrin (Secretary and Registrar of the Order of Merit) was in attendance.

The King, Captain General, Royal Regiment of Artillery, this afternoon visited 7 Air Defence Group Royal Artillery at Baker Barracks, Thorney Island, and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of West Sussex (the Lady Emma Barnard), the Master Gunner, St. James's Park (Lieutenant General Michael Elviss) and the Commander 7 Air Defence Group (Colonel Stuart Hay).

His Majesty toured the base, meeting Service personnel and witnessing operational air defence demonstrations showcasing the unit's roles, capabilities and contributions to defence, before officially re-opening the renovated Junior Ranks Restaurant.

The King subsequently spoke to Service personnel deployed overseas and their families, before meeting the families and community of 7 Air Defence Group at the base.

The Princess Royal, on behalf of The King, held an Investiture at St. James's Palace this morning.

By command of The King, Mr. Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon Her Excellency Mrs. Ximena Fuentes Torrijo at 37-41 Old Queen Street, London SW1, this morning in order to bid farewell to Her Excellency upon relinquishing her appointment as Ambassador from the Republic of Chile to the Court of St. James's.

Kensington Palace

The Prince and Princess of Wales this afternoon visited the Hanging Gardens, Bethel Street, Llanidloes, and were received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Powys (Mrs. Tia Jones).

Their Royal Highnesses later visited Oriel Davies Gallery, the Park, Newtown, Powys.

The Prince and Princess of Wales afterwards visited Hafan Yr Afon, the Park, Newtown.

St. James's Palace

The Duchess of Edinburgh today undertook the following engagements in Kenya.

Her Royal Highness this morning called upon Mr. Karuku Ngumo (County Commissioner of Wajir County) at Wajir Airport.

The Duchess of Edinburgh afterwards called upon Mr. Ahmed Abdullahi Jiir (Governor, Wajir County) at the Governor's Office, Wajir.

Her Royal Highness later attended a Meeting with women peacebuilders at i-Mall Hotel, Wajir.

The Duchess of Edinburgh this afternoon visited Hodhan women's business group and met members of a local loans and savings association.

Her Royal Highness afterwards laid wreaths at the graves of two British Soldiers in Wajir Cemetery.

The Duchess of Edinburgh this evening attended a Dinner with female leaders from the Government of Kenya at the Residence of the British High Commissioner in Nairobi.

St. James's Palace

The Princess Royal, President, Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth, this afternoon received Mr. Michael Lambert upon relinquishing his appointment as Honorary Secretary and Mr. Christopher Riddle upon assuming the appointment.

Her Royal Highness, Patron, the Cranfield Trust, later received Mrs. Amanda Tincknell upon relinquishing her appointment as Chief Executive and Mr. Daniel Francis upon assuming the appointment.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester, Patron, Homeopathy UK, this morning received Ms. Monica Price (Chief Executive Officer).

The Duchess of Gloucester, President, Bridewell Royal Hospital, King Edward's School, Witley, today received Alderman Sir Peter Estlin upon relinquishing his appointment as Vice President of Bridewell Royal Hospital and Alderman Sir Nicholas Lyons upon assuming the appointment.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Kent, Chancellor, University of Surrey, this evening held a Reception at St. James's Palace to mark the launch of the Surrey Space Institute.

Buckingham Palace

The King this afternoon received Air Chief Marshal Sir Harvey Smyth upon his appointment as Chief of the Air Staff.

Mr. John Marshall was received in audience by The King and kissed hands upon his appointment as His Majesty's Ambassador to the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Benin and non-resident British High Commissioner to the Togolese Republic.

Ms. Illa Molnar was also received by His Majesty.

Ms. Helena Owen was received in audience by The King and kissed hands upon her appointment as His Majesty's Ambassador to the Republic of Chad.

The following were received in audience by The King upon their appointment as British High Commissioners: Ms. Lisa Chesney (the Republic of Uganda) and Dr. Christian Rogg (the Republic of Ghana).

Mrs. Vivianne Infante was also received by His Majesty.

The Rt. Hon. Yvette Cooper MP (Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs) was received in audience by The King.

The Queen this afternoon held the Grand Final of the BBC 500 Words creative-writing competition at Windsor Castle.

Her Majesty afterwards held a Reception.

His Majesty was represented by Major Christopher Cox (Lieutenant of The King's Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard) at the Memorial Service of Major Robert Wilmont (Member of The King's Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard) which was held at the Guards Chapel, Wellington Barracks, Birdcage Walk, London SW1, this afternoon.

The Duke of Edinburgh this morning attended a Luncheon with Foreign Ministers of Central Asia at Lancaster House, Stable Yard, London SW1.

His Royal Highness, Patron, the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, this evening attended a Repertory Company performance of "Dracula" at 443-445 Holloway Road, London N7.

The Princess Royal today visited the American Geophysical Union Ocean Sciences Meeting at the Scottish Event Campus, Exhibition Way, Glasgow, and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Glasgow (Councillor Jacqueline McLaren, the Rt. Hon. the Lord Provost).

The Princess Royal, Grand Master, the Royal Victorian Order, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this evening attended Evensong and a Reception at The King's Chapel of the Savoy, Savoy Hill, London WC2.

Her Royal Highness, Past Master, the Worshipful Company of Carmen, accompanied by Vice Admiral Laurence, later attended a Joint Services Awards Dinner at Plaisterers' Hall, One London Wall, London EC2.
