Update on The Queen's progress following her knee operation

THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT IS ISSUED BY THE PRESS SECRETARY TO THE QUEEN
This morning, The Queen underwent the successful removal of cartilage from her left knee in King Edward VII Hospital in London. The operation was performed by Mr Roger Vickers and Mr Adrian Fairbank, and anaesthesia was carried out by Dr Robert Linton and Dr Catherine Greville.
Under the same anaesthetic, some minor benign skin lesions were removed by Mr Adam Searle and Dr Richard Staughton.
The Queen's Physician Sir Richard Thompson was in attendance.
The operation lasted about an hour and a quarter.
Her Majesty is expected to leave hospital over the weekend, and return to Buckingham Palace. The Queen will spend Christmas with her family at Sandringham at usual.
