The Duchess of Cornwall sends a video message to the 2020 Booker Prize for Fiction winner ceremony

The Duchess of Cornwall has sent a message as part of this year’s Booker Prize for Fiction winner ceremony without walls. The speech was played at the event at London’s Roundhouse, hosted by the BBC’s John Wilson with special guests including President Barack Obama and former Booker Prize winners Margaret Atwood and Bernardine Evaristo.
This year’s prize went to Douglas Stuart for his semi autobiographical novel Shuggie Bain. It tells the story of a young boy growing up in poverty in Glasgow and is dedicated to the author’s mother.
The Duchess of Cornwall has supported The Booker Prize every year since 2013 and presented the prize to Anna Burns in 2018. In 2019 The Duchess invited the joint winners, Margaret Atwood and Bernardine Evaristo, for tea at Clarence House.
