The Princess Royal, President, Royal Yachting Association, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this morning visited the Emirates GBR SailGP team at SailGP Technologies Hub, Fawley Power Station, Southampton, and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire (Mr. Nigel Atkinson).
The King, Patron, Commonwealth Sport, and The Queen this evening arrived at the Hydro, Scottish Event Campus, Exhibition Way, Glasgow, and were received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Glasgow (Councillor Jacqueline McLaren), the President of Commonwealth Sport (Dr. Donald Rukare) and the Chairman of Glasgow 2026 (Mr. George Black).
Their Majesties attended a Reception with representatives of Governments, the Commonwealth and the Games and were received by The Duke of Edinburgh, Vice Patron, Commonwealth Sport, the Rt. Hon. Andrew Burnham MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury), the Rt. Hon. John Swinney MSP (First Minister of the Scottish Government) and the Hon. Shirley Botchwey (Commonwealth Secretary-General).
The King subsequently opened the XXIII Commonwealth Games.
