Today is World Mental Health Day 2019!

The World Health Organisations recognises World Mental Health on the 10th of October every year and this year's theme is suicide prevention.

Members of The Royal Family have long supported this initiative to raise awareness of the challenges people face around mental health. Today, The Duke of Sussex has teamed up with singer Ed Sheeran to encourage people to talk about their mental health. Go to @sussexroyal to watch the full video.

Over many years, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and The Duke of Sussex have long supported The Royal Foundation Heads Together campaign which encourages people to talk about their mental health challenges.

And this week, Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have voiced a campaign video launched by Public Health England & the NHS which raises awareness of an online service to help people who are struggling. More on the campaign, One You, here. 

In 2018 The Duchess of Cambridge launched ‘Mentally Healthy Schools’, a free website for primary schools, offering school staff information, advice and practical resources to better understand and promote pupils’ mental health and wellbeing:

And in May 2019 The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex launched Shout, a free, 24/7 text messaging service where people can Text “Shout” to 85258 if they are experiencing mental health challenges and connect with trained volunteers who provide help at a time when it is most needed.

The service was launched by Mental Health Innovations, a digital mental health charity that was established as a legacy from the Heads Together campaign.
