Her Majesty tours the newly refurbished Sir Joseph Hotung Gallery of China and South Asia 25 years after first opening it

The Queen toured the gallery , meeting curators who shared some of the highlights of the extraordinary collection.

The Queen has visited the Museum many times during her reign.

The newly refurbished gallery can now accommodate the rotation of paintings, prints and textiles which need to be displayed in special conditions, and also creates space for new contemporary objects which will enhance the experience for the thousands of visitors which the British Museum welcomes every year.

At the end of the visit staff and guests watched The Queen unveil the spectacular oculus to mark the gallery open again.
