The Queen opens the new Schroders Headquarters

Today The Queen was in the City of London to open the new Headquarters of Schroders.
The multinational asset management company was founded 214 years ago – and today The Queen opened its new headquarters near The Barbican.
While the building was designed with sustainability at its core, The Queen also saw how the building is steeped in history, incorporating a section of London’s Roman wall and the ruins of the tower of the medieval St Alphage’s Church.
During the visit, The Queen met several members of staff; including the longest serving.
The Queen also spoke to many of the young apprentices now working at Schroders, who started the programme straight out of school. Many will go on to be offered long term jobs.
The backdrop from the official opening included a 20,000 poppy installation to commemorate #Armistice100. Schroders worked with The Royal British Legion and a local florist to create the art installation.
Schroders was founded in 1804 when Johann Heinrich Schröder became a partner in J. F. Schröder & Co., the London-based firm founded by his brother, Johann Friedrich Schröder.
