The Duchess of Gloucester has been in Bermuda to support and participate in the Royal Bermuda Regiment’s 60th Anniversary celebrations, in her role as Colonel-in-Chief. 

Her Royal Highness's engagements highlighted Bermuda’s rich heritage, vibrant community, and commitment to environmental stewardship. The Duchess last visited Bermuda in 2015.

Friday 17th October

The Duchess arrived in Bermuda, greeted by His Excellency Mr Andrew Murdoch, the Governor of Bermuda.

The Duchess first visited Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS) – part of Arizona State University.

Following this, The Duchess visited the Dame Marjorie Bean Hope Academy, where she heard about the school’s compassionate approach to teaching students with exceptionalities.

Later, The Duchess visited Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art, which showcases works from the 1700s to today, including contemporary Bermudian artists. Her Royal Highness is Patron of the Museum.

Saturday 18th October

As Colonel-in-Chief of The Royal Bermuda Regiment, The Duchess of Gloucester took the salute to mark the 60th anniversary of the Regiment. 

Following this, Her Royal Highness presented New Colours and operational service medals.

Sunday 19th October

The Duchess attended a special Sunday Service at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity.

Accompanied by His Excellency the Governor, Andrew Murdoch, CMG, prior to the service, Her Royal Highness was presented with a bouquet of flowers and greeted by The Bishop of Bermuda and an Honour Guard of Boys and Girls Brigades on steps of the Cathedral.

The Duchess later visited HOME for Families, a charity working with the Bermuda government and wider local community to create a collaborative, single plan to end homelessness on the island.

Her Royal Highness also visited the Royal Bermuda Regiment (RBR) at Warwick Camp to participate in a medal presentation ceremony for service, and to bury a commemorative time capsule.

Monday 20th October

On her final day, The Duchess of Gloucester visited the Bermuda Aquarium Museum and Zoo, to learn about their environmental work.

During the visit, Her Royal Highness spoke to students from the Bermuda Zoological Society's school programme.

Ahead of departure, The Duchess visited Government House to plant a tree, alongside students from the Eco Club.

Following this, Her Royal Highness enjoyed a performance by Bermuda's prominent H&H Gombey Troupe, a colourful celebration of the island's vibrant culture and traditions.

Founded in 1989, The H&H Gombeys have been a fixture in Bermudan culture, participating in major events like the Gombey Festival and celebrating 35 years as a troupe in 2024.
